I've got SQL Server 2008 (32bit) on Windows 2008R2 and Live Monitor works great on my Win 7 laptop. Now I have enabled awe memory and restarted SQL, but Live Monitor only shows SQL Version and AWE Enabled and everything else is 0. I checked and made sure using SQL 2005 or SQL 2008 native driver. Strange, I can see expensive queries ok

No. 10.0 is SQL Server 2008. 10.5 is SQL Server 2008 R2

The log you provided states : 3/15/2013 6:41:14 PM Server Version is - 10.0.4371.0 - SP2 - Enterprise Edition (64-bit)

So you have SQL Server 2008 (the original version codename Katmai, rather than SQL 2008 R2 released 18 months later Codename KJ). The version installed is the 64bit enterprise edition, so you don't require AWE.

Now I'm confused, isn't 10.0 just 32 bit, while 10.50 is 64 bit?

It seems the configuration or something was messed up--I disabled AWE in SQL and rebooted. It is now showing correct memory usage in SQL LM.

Sorry I'm confused. Your original report said 32bit SQL, but the log file you just posted says 64bit enterprise edition ??

AWE has no effect on a 64bit system (it's just ignored).

Could you please confirm the versions and the issue please. I will try and repro in my test lab once you confirm the versions for me.

I had an issue when opening the Blocked Process Details log file. Entries with embedded newline characters were causing the records to incorrectly display in Excel.

Ideally when writing out records, it is recommended to use text qualifers around fields containing the column or row delimiter. Below is a code I used to correct this:

ThreadFunction method in Form1.cs, replaced:

blocking.WriteLine(DateTime.Now + "," + blocked + "," + blocked_input_buffer + "," + spid + "," + spid_input_buffer);

with the following updated code:

string[] fields = new string[] { DateTime.Now.ToString(), blocked, blocked_input_buffer, spid, spid_input_buffer };
for (int i = 0; i < fields.Length; i++)
{
if (fields[i].Contains(",") || fields[i].Contains(Environment.NewLine))
fields[i] = "\"" + fields[i].Replace("\"", "\"\"") + "\"";
}
blocking.WriteLine(String.Join(",", fields));

I'm unable to open the downloaded source code for the version 1.31.
It's asking me to login to tfs.codeplex.com and I dont know which username / password is to be given there!!!

If you don't have TFS set-up with Codeplex, you can go to the downloads section, and download the source code zip file instead. The download section has 2 zip files, 1 pre-built binary, and the other is source code.

I've not had any other users complain about this issue, and I;ve tested it locally and I can connect to named instances.

Can you provide some details on you config. SQL Version, SP level, WIndows Version and SP level, and if possible can you send the log file for SQLmonitor as well ??

Thanks. The app takes disk related data directly from the perfmon API and displays it as is. I'll add some code to round it down if the data is > 100.
